LEGACY

My dear, sweet mother, Josephine Audrey Diane Knowles Avery (mostly known as Diane or Di) passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013. She was sleeping, at home in her chair, where she has been sleeping and living for the last year. We are so grateful that she escaped her body before the rebellion completely claimed her wonderfully willful spirit, humour and grace.

Mom/Di has had the most wonderful friends including a painting-posse led by Vicky Weir. I hope that this last entry will be especially appreciated by you ladies who gave my mother so much joy in your Thursday gatherings and also Jen Brown who enjoyed talking with Mom about all things in life and parenting, while keeping her smiling with the anecdotes about your art classes.

Buried in the back of the hall closet, I found these pieces. They are not yet one of the many, many images chosen for framing and hung on walls at Mom and Dad's or my and my sisters' homes. The first image, Waiting for the Tide to Change, which hangs at our family cottage is one of my favourites. The title seems fitting.

I loved coming home to Oakville to see what recent creations Mom had conjured--often from her imagination.

If you are a friend on Mom's and there's an image you'd particularly enjoy having, please let me know--I'll see what I can do:) Email me or call the house. (Single click on any picture to get a slide show of them all, double click might download the image).

Happy Mother's Day Mom!

This blog is a present to my mother, Diane Knowles Avery, who is my connection to what is meaningful and beautiful in life.

I hope that together we can post a record of some of the magic she creates with her brushes, paint, and unique way of seeing the world.
